Gold Coast Photography Course

The course covers essential theory and practice of photography. Students will learn to control the photographic process and apply techniques to create images by applying the technical aspects of photography. The course covers topics necessary for understanding both digital and analog photography

This course is the ideal starting point if you have recently purchased a camera or feel the need to brush up on your photographic knowledge or if you are a beginner. Students would normally be expected to have their own camera capable of manual adjustment.

TOPICS COVERED INCLUDE:
Origins and history of photography
Photographic Equipment – camera types, construction
Exposure: f-stops, shutter speeds, how to affect and influence results, composition, use of depth of field.
Photograpic media speed ratings both analog and digital. digital media
Photographic light sources: natural, flash, different light types and their effects and uses.
Developing your own photographic style

The course is heavily slanted to the practical application of theory. Practical projects will be encouraged. Some of the subjects covered are factors affecting exposure, shutter speeds and apertures, photographic media, film types, depth of field, composition, lenses and electronic flash.

COURSE DURATION/LOCATION:
The course runs for six weeks with one session per week. Sessions comprise theory and 2 practical sessions. Students are encouraged to devote additional practical time between lessons on projects to reinforce their learning.

FEES:
Course fees are $399.00 payable in advance. Costs include course fees only. 10% Discount available for early enrolment and payment in full - enquire for further information.

Consumable costs, memory cards, digital media,film, any processing and printing, all photographic consumables, computers etc., are extra and are at the students expense. Coffee and tea supplied.

PREREQUISITES: Student requires a single lens reflex (SLR) camera or equivalent with manual adjustment capability - phone if unsure.
TUTORS: All training is provided by professional photographers.
