Michael was born in Germany and educated in Australia. He trained at the Brisbane College of Photography and Art at Spring Hill, Brisbane where he qualified with the Certificate of Professional Photography in 1998.

Michael is a Member of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP). Michael holds the honour of Associate of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography.
